Procrastination - It's Got Hold Of Me!

Let's blame it on the fact that it's a Monday. Or else, maybe it's because I had a nightmare last night and couldn't fall back to sleep for ages - and now I'm sort of tired and cranky. Whatever the reason is, I don't feel very motivated to do the 3-step solution today. I haven't even done my first cleaning burst yet!

Do you ever have days like this? Sure, we all do! Here's my plan on getting motivated on a day when CLEANING is the LAST thing I feel like doing...

1. Turn on some music - If you've read the Happy Slob's Guide to Housecleaning, then you know I'm a big fan of turning on music while you clean. It really helps get you going, and helps you feel motivated and energetic.

2. Turn on the coffee - Hey, sometimes a good dose of caffeine really can help the cause.

3. Set a reasonable goal - Remember, Happy Slob housecleaning is NOT a strict cleaning regimen. I'm not feeling like my chipper self today, so I'll keep my cleaning bursts a bit shorter than usual and I WON'T STRESS ABOUT IT. Any cleaning I get done is a good thing - I won't waste time worrying that I should've done more.

So, even if you're having a BLAH day too, just set a reasonable goal for yourself, turn on some toe-tappin' music, and do what you can. Then, reward yourself with a bubble bath, relaxing book reading time or whatever you enjoy.
