Happy Slob's Tips: Cleaning out the INSIDE of the Dishwasher
Cleaning the outside of the dishwasher is a relatively easy thing to do - a spritz of our favorite Very Vinegar cleaner, a little time and a wipe is all that it takes. But how about the INSIDE of the dishwasher, where gunk can accumulate in the inner workings that you can't even SEE?
Here are my two favorite tips for cleaning out the inside of your dishwasher, to not only make it look better, but also help it perform better and get your dishes cleaner than ever:
1. Vinegar - Plain old white vinegar or apple cider both have the acid content needed to clean out your dishwasher. Pour about a cup in and do a load with no dishes at all. It will help clean out the inside of the dishwasher and get rid of accumulated gunk in the machine.
2. Tang Powder - I don't think I'd particularly like to DRINK Tang, but one Happy Slob reader told me it's a fabulous way to get your dishwasher clean! Pour a scoop into each detergent compartment in the dishwasher and then let it run an empty load. Apparently the citric acid in the drink powder helps do the same thing the vinegar does, but smells citrusy and fabulous!
