Getting Started with the 3-Step Solution
By Christina Spence
So, you've found this website and are thinking: "Hey, that
sounds like me!" If you too are a 'happy slob' - a generally
fantastic laid back person who'd rather be doing anything
besides house cleaning - then you have indeed found a
home here on the web.
But, how to clean that home? Maybe you're still a little confused
about how to get started using my guidelines to clean. This
article is for you - to help you learn the little details
that make getting started and sticking with the 3-Step
Solution easy and fun.
The 3-Step Solution:
1. 2 cleaning bursts a day
2. 1 focus room a day
3. 1 weekly clean-for-all
How to Implement the 3-Step Solution
Step 1:
Create your cleaning kit. Yes, this is a must! A cleaning
kit is any easy-to-carry container that has all of your
essentials for cleaning stored conveniently right inside.

your cleaning kit.
Step 2:
1 cleaning burst a day - Just start with one cleaning burst
a day until you get used to it. Cleaning bursts are fast,
intense bouts of cleaning. You make a time budget you can
afford - anywhere from 5-20 minutes - and then put that
on the timer. Once the timer rings, you're done.
Step 3:
Build up to 2 cleaning bursts a day - one in the morning
and one in the evening. Again, just budget for the amount
of time you can afford to spend.
Step 4:
Add the focus room cleaning - a little extra cleaning time
spent in one room or area every day. Create a focus room
cleaning area list before you get started - and make sure
to include any area that needs extra help. Ahem, yes I do
mean closets my dear fellow slobbos!
Step 5:
Once you've gotten used to all the other steps, add the
weekly Clean For All, where your family really helps out
to get the rest of the cleaning done.
Remember, as with anything I suggest - this plan is totally
adjustable according to your circumstances. If you've had a
horrible day at work and can only do one 5-minute cleaning
burst one day - well, that's great! Hey, at least you did
some cleaning. And if you don't always get all of the steps
done - don't worry! This plan is all about taking worry
AWAY from your life, not adding more to it. And trust
me, your good efforts over time will equal excellent results.
So, get started on trying just one cleaning burst a day.
It's the first step to a cleaner home - and that is our
goal: A cleaner home, not a perfect one!
