I've dug up some interesting information about homemade glass cleaners that I just HAD to share with all of you! (I have yet to try it myself, but the next time I whip up some all-purpose cleaner, I'm going to try this...and then report back to you, of course.)
Apparently, adding a small amount of CORNSTARCH to a basic water/vinegar solution will help reduce streaks. Neat, huh? So here's a recipe for you to try -- and please let me know if you find it works BETTER than our regular vinegar cleaning solution.
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 quart warm water
Mix the ingredients and apply with a sponge. Wipe dry, buffing to a shine. Make sure to always use a lint-free cleaning cloth OR scrunched up newspapers, which is my favorite. :) Also -- old phone books make handy cleaning pages for windows, mirrors, and any other surface you want to shine up without leaving a trail of lint behind...Just tear out one page at a time whenever you need it!
